WATCH: Jets’ Sam Darnold with horrible INT to open ‘MNF’

There were a select few who believed the New York Jets could hang with the undefeated defending champion New England Patriots on Monday night.

Those people must have been shocked to see Tom Brady lead his Patriots down the field on a 16-play, 78-yard touchdown scoring drive while converting on all four third-down attempts to open the game.

Then, on the Jets’ second play from scrimmage, quarterback Sam Darnold threw an absolutely horrible interception into the hands of Devin McCourty.

That’s about as bad as it gets. Darnold was seen back-peddling while facing the blitz. He overthrew Jamison Crowder. It set up a Patriots field goal and an early 10-0 lead for the defending champs.

You can’t make these types of mistakes against Patriots defense that entered Monday night having yielded one touchdown pass compared to 14 interceptions in six games. Ouch!
