Thanks to lead-off man and first baseman Mana Lau Kong, the Little League World Series Championship Game got off on the right foot for Hawaii.
Kong wasn’t going to wait around to swing the bat. He took a hack at the first pitch he saw and sent it over the fence, giving the American champs a 1-0 lead over South Korea.

This team is looking to be the first from Hawaii to win the LLWS since 2008. You can’t ask for a much better start than that.
