As the Dallas Cowboys prepared to host the Detroit Lions on Monday night, rookie running back was out warming up on the field wearing the jersey of a legend.
Often linked to Emmitt Smith because he plays the same position and tends to run a bit like Smith did back in the day, Elliott was rocking the Smith No. 22 jersey.

If the young Ohio State product can stay healthy and play as long as Smith did, then he’ll be mentioned in the same breath as the Hall of Famer as one of the game’s greatest players. Already off to a torrid start in his first year, Smith leads the NFL in rushing by 283 yards even before he takes the field Monday night.
Because of the tremendous play of Elliott and fellow rookie Dak Prescott, the Cowboys are riding high as the top seed in the NFC heading into the playoffs. The road to Super Bowl LI must go through Dallas, one way or another, and they already have the support of Smith, who has told them to “go get your ring.”
