All-everything Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey made news earlier in the week when he took a shot at San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
In responding to Garoppolo being named a top-100 player from the 2018 NFL season, the always talkative Ramsey had this to say.
“Not yet, not yet. What he (Garoppolo) play — five games? He has good potential,” Ramsey said. “I think he’ll be a good player, but off my experience in playing him, it was a lot of scheme stuff. It wasn’t like he was just dicing us up. It was a lot of scheme stuff.”
Ramsey then doubled down on this thought process on Twitter.
@ me next time. Jimmy is good, I said that but based off our game, only 1 Wr had more than 25 yards on us & most of that came off 1 catch for 24 yards… he used his FB & TE for big gains off play action & their running game was also good that game. That’s scheme! Learn sum ✌🏾 https://t.co/xHkkuwprze

We gotta start putting these people who speak on the game but don’t really know about the game in they place! 😂

This all stems from Garoppolo and the 49ers putting up 44 points in a Week 16 win over Ramsey’s Jaguars. That game saw the recently extended signal caller complete 21-of-30 passes for 242 yards with two touchdowns.
Apparently, the 49ers themselves have now decided to get in on the action by trolling Ramsey in a passive-aggressive manner.
In 2 of his 5 starts, @JimmyG_10 posted a 100+ QB rating.#TBT to his #JAXvsSF performance.

That’s just brilliant stuff right there form San Francisco’s social media team. Though, one can now expect Ramsey to respond demanding that the 49ers mention him next time.
Realistically, this a fun debate to have during a slow part of the NFL calendar. Is Garoppolo potentially a product of Kyle Shanahan’s scheme? Certainly. Is said scheme the primary reason he posted a 5-0 record as San Francisco’s starter? Of course not.
Remember, the 49ers were 1-10 prior to Garoppolo getting his first start under center following a mid-season trade from New England.
