Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips had to be carted off the field Sunday during the second half after Melvin Gordon collided with him on the sideline.
It was a scary scene, as Gordon’s collision rocked the coach back at least five yards. He did not get back up afterwards and doctors were hovering over him for at least five minutes before loading him onto a stretcher and carting him off.
Here’s the play in question that sent Phillips to the locker room.

Phillips, 69 years of age, is one of the key figures on Denver’s coaching staff. He’s one of the best and most respected coaches in the league.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Phillips, his family, the Broncos and their fans.
