Former New England Patriots’ first-round draft pick Vince Wilfork signed with the Houston Texans last month after 11 seasons in New England.

While this move doesn’t link Wilfork to a better team, it does pin him alongside the best defensive player in the NFL in the form of the super-human J.J. Watt.

Excited to work with Watt and describing how he will fit into the Texans’ scheme, Wilfork shared this (via CBS Sports).

I don’t want to change his game one bit. I’m not coming in here to say, ‘You need to do this differently.’ No. You continue to do what you do. We’re going to learn off of you. We’re going to play off of you. My goal is to let J.J. be J.J. I’m pretty sure the coaching staff is going to feel the same way.

Someone else excited about Wilfork moving to Houston is his daughter, who is already looking forward to her father playing with Watt.

My daughter, she’s probably the most excited of all to come down here and meet him. Maybe she’ll get some autographed Watt gear from him?

Watt should benefit in the deal as well. Never having worked with a defensive tackle of Wilfork’s caliber, Watt is going to likely see less double and triple teams next year. It’s a match made in heaven for both sides.
