United States Men’s National Team mainstay Weston McKennie will not play again this season for his club team Juventus, after his availability for World Cup qualifying games already was ruled out.

McKennie has not played for Juventus since he fractured a bone in his left foot Feb. 22 during a Champions League game against Villareal.

Juventus has won three consecutive games in Italy’s Serie A without McKennie before manager Massimiliano Allegri said Sunday that his American star will not play again for the remainder of the schedule that runs into May.

The 23-year-old Texas native will not be available for the USMNT in World Cup qualifying games March 24 at Mexico, March 27 against Panama at Orlando, Fla., and March 30 at Costa Rica. The team is trying to complete a top-three finish in the CONCACAF standings to earn a berth in the World Cup and currently sits in second place.

McKennie, who scored three goals in 20 league games for Juventus this season, is expected to be available when the 2022-23 Serie A season begins in August. The World Cup at Qatar is set to begin Nov. 21 and will run into December.
