Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton suffers potential season-altering injury

Tyrese Haliburton: carried off floor

Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton had to be carried off the floor after suffering an apparent leg injury following a slip on the court in Monday’s game against the Boston Celtics.

Haliburton was driving to the basket when he slipped. His leg bent back and he immediately grabbed his hamstring.

He had to be helped off the court and was carried to the locker room by teammates. He was clearly in pain, with a towel draped over his head.

Haliburton played 13 minutes and had seven points and six assists. The Pacers announced he would not return for the rest of the game.

The Pacers have announced Haliburton has a hamstring strain and ESPN reported that Haliburton will have an MRI on Tuesday.

The Pacers and Haliburton had gotten off to a great start this season. The fourth-year guard was averaging 24.2 points and 12.7 assists and shooting right at 50% from the field.

He got off to a historic start to the season, with November numbers that compared to monthlong stats from Michael Jordan and LeBron James. He led the Pacers to the NBA In-Season Tournament final, knocking off the Milwaukee Bucks in the semifinals.
