Tyler Lockett was ruled out of Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams as part of a significant Seattle contingent unavailable to the Seahawks for the delayed Week 15 division matchup.
Lockett, the Seahawks’ leading receiver with 62 receptions for 1,023 yards, was the first player on the team last week to test positive for COVID-19 and entered health and safety protocol with the goal of testing out to play for Seattle.
But Lockett, who is vaccinated, did not receive clearance on Tuesday. None of the nine Seahawks placed on the COVID/reserve list were able to test out before kickoff.
The Rams were also without three starters, including offensive tackle Rob Havenstein, who were stuck in the protocols.
Seattle also took the field without starting right tackle Brandon Shell, starting cornerback D.J. Reed, running back Travis Homer and defensive end Kerry Hyder Jr.
Running back Alex Collins, added to the team’s COVID list the same day as Lockett, was also ruled out.
The Seahawks’ game against the NFC West rival Rams was moved to Tuesday night after Los Angeles had as many as 29 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list, including players from the practice squad.
The Rams since activated a number of key players in recent days, including wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and running back Darrell Henderson on Saturday, as well as cornerback Jalen Ramsey on Sunday.
