The Minnesota Twins reinstated right-hander Bailey Ober from the 10-day injured list and selected the contract of right-hander Trevor Megill from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.

Ober, 26, missed the Twins’ last 20 games with a right groin strain and is scheduled to start Sunday’s series finale against the host Kansas City Royals.

He is 1-1 with a 2.75 ERA in four starts this season with Minnesota. He allowed five runs (four earned) and struck out seven in five innings in a May 15 rehab start for St. Paul.

Megill, 28, signed a minor league contract with the Twins in December. He went 0-2 with 3.27 ERA in nine relief appearances at St. Paul this year. In 2021, he made his MLB debut with the Chicago Cubs and posted a 1-2 record with an 8.37 ERA in 28 bullpen outings.

Megill is the older brother of New York Mets’ right-hander Tylor Megill.

To make room for Ober and Megill on the 26-man roster, the Twins optioned left-hander Devin Smeltzer to St. Paul and placed right-hander Josh Winder on the 15-day IL with right shoulder impingement.

To clear space for Megill on the 40-man roster, Minnesota designated right-hander Chris Vallimont for release or assignment.
