Troy Aikman doesn’t seem sold on the Cowboys

The consensus among Dallas Cowboys fans and spectators of the sport is that the team will be just fine with rookie fourth-round pick Dak Prescott under center.

Though, appears that former Dallas quarterback and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman is pumping the brakes on the Prescott’ bandwagon just a bit.

“Basically what I hear and what I’m reading and watching on TV around town is there’s not the sky-is-falling attitude about Romo going down,” Aikman said, via The Dallas Morning News. “And that’s crazy, because this team was terrible last year without him.

Aikman did admit that Prescott played well in the preseason.

All this hype centers around two things. Prescott’s preseason play and Romo’s serious back injury.

The young quarterback completed 78 percent of his passes and scored seven touchdowns in parts of only three games. For this, the Cowboys would appear to be in fine hands with Prescott starting out the season.

Aikman definitely had a point when he said the Cowboys stunk when Romo was injured last year. But that was mainly due to the team having an awful combination of washed-up backups who perhaps should not even be active quarterbacks in the league.

Furthermore, Dez Bryant missed several weeks due to a foot injury and never quite played at 100 percent when he resumed activity.

He will return in what should top form and join a stud rookie running back in the form of Ezekiel Elliott.

Prescott has shown enough to prove he can eventually be the new face of the franchise. Meanwhile, should Romo return, he’s one bad hit from yet another debilitating injury.
