After being released by the Detroit Lions, running back Theo Riddick is reportedly signing with the Denver Broncos, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
Riddick is a tremendous pass-catcher who is the only running back in the league to have caught at least 50 passes in each of the past four seasons. Last season, he caught 64 passes in just 14 games, and in 2015 he hauled in 80 receptions.
Adding a veteran of his ilk who can make big plays on third downs is a savvy move by general manager John Elway. It may also mean that the team still isn’t sold on Devontae Booker as the third running back on the roster.
