Tennessee Titans reportedly have Derrick Henry on trade block

We could be looking at the final days of Derrick Henry’s glorious reign with the Tennessee Titans. According to Michael Silver of Bally Sports, the rumors of a potential Henry trade are true.

Several players are likely to be linked in trade rumors leading up to the NFL Draft, but it’s hard to find a much bigger name than King Henry, who’s twice led the NFL in rushing and finished just shy of 2,000 yards from scrimmage last season.

Yet, according to Silver’s general manager sources, talk of Henry being shopped ran rampant at the NFL Combine. Any time a player of Henry’s magnitude becomes available, people notice.

The Titans are under new leadership, with first-year general manager Ran Carthon running the ship. While Tennessee may have roughly $19 million to spend in free agency, parting with Henry could net a draft haul that allows them to jumpstart what could be a rebuilding effort.

Tennessee currently holds just six picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, and trading Henry could surely add to that total. Being that Henry is entering the final year of his contract, both he and the Titans could be ready to move on.

The question becomes, does Tennessee feel Henry will be around when they’re ready to compete for a Super Bowl again? The same goes for Henry himself, who may prefer to go ‘ring-chasing’ as they say, trying to capitalize on the back half of the prime of his career.

With the shelf life for NFL running backs limited, Henry could soon start to lose steam, but there’s been no indication that he’s slowing down any time soon. If one of the best running backs is truly on the trade block, expect all the contenders to come calling.
