Tennessee Titans make decision on DeAndre Hopkins trade

DeAndre Hopkins took his time finding a new team after the Arizona Cardinals released him after three seasons. After drawing interest from several teams looking to add the three-time All-Pro receiver, Hopkins inked a two-year contract worth up to $26 million with the Tennessee Titans.

But the Titans entered Week 8 in last place of the AFC South at 2-4, leading to speculation about whether Hopkins may be traded ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Yet, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Hopkins is staying with the Titans through the deadline.

It makes sense. The Titans signed Hopkins to a two-year contract for a reason. They knew they needed more production at the receiver position, and Hopkins has led the team in receiving yards. Not to mention, he’s also providing valued veteran leadership for younger players like Treylon Burks and others.

If Ryan Tannehill’s future in Tennessee is limited, having Hopkins continue building chemistry with Will Levis and Malik Willis can’t hurt either. Hopkins is off to a great start today, already hauling in two touchdowns from Levis in the first start of the rookie’s career.

If Week 8 is a sign of what’s to come, there’s no reason the Titans should consider trading Hopkins any time soon.
