Coming off his best two seasons as a professional, speedy receiver Ted Ginn is thrilled to have landed with the New Orleans Saints. He knows he’s struck a gold mine to be playing with All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees, who makes every receiver he plays with that much better.

“That’s why it was very important to find a home like I found, because Drew Brees is the type of guy that can extend your career, man, and that’s what it’s all about,” said Ginn, per ESPN’s Mike Triplett.

Ginn signed a three-year deal with the Saints worth up to $11 million. At the age of 32, he probably doesn’t have another big payday left in his body, but if it happens it’ll likely have everything to do with the man throwing him the ball in New Orleans.

“I just think that it was the opportunities that were given to me in Carolina for me to be able to showcase who I am, so now that I’m coming to a new beginning, I feel that (the Saints have) watched me as long as I’ve watched myself,” said Ginn. “They have a pretty good sight of how they want to use me, and just over the years they’ve learned how to use different receivers to bring out their talent.”

Ginn will likely be utilized in similar fashion to recently traded receiver Brandin Cooks, who landed with the New England Patriots. The past two years, Cooks, who also has track-star speed, caught 162 passes for 2,311 yards and 17 touchdowns.

It would be an unbelievable turn of events for Ginn, who has never caught more than 54 passes and totaled more than 790 receiving yards in a season, to come close to those totals. However, it wouldn’t be shocking whatsoever if the 32-year-old veteran does post career bests in both categories. And we already know he’s more than capable of hauling in touchdowns, having caught 14 the past two seasons himself, including 10 in 2015.

Brees is a master at diagnosing defenses, both before and after the snap. He’s also one of the greatest to ever play the game in terms of anticipation and accuracy. No doubt, Ginn will be a huge beneficiary of these outstanding qualities.
