A win by the Golden State Warriors tonight won’t just help shore up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. It’ll also help head coach Steve Kerr make history by becoming the fastest NBA coach to 200 wins.
#Warriors Steve Kerr sitting on 199 wins. A victory over Houston tonight makes him the fastest NBA coach to 200 wins.

While this is an incredible achievement and Kerr is easily one of the best coaches in the league, there should be a disclaimer here. In truth, 39 of those wins should be credited to Luke Walton, who coached the Warriors in Kerr’s stead for first 43 games of last season. In reality, Kerr has a while to go before hitting 200 wins, but the record keepers are weird on this, so here we are.
That being said, Kerr still has a chance to become one of the best coaches in history. This is only more evidence. He’s put together what could become the dominant dynasty of the next decade with minimal chemistry hiccups, helped promote a style that’s revolutionized basketball and won a title in a little more than two years. That’s not half-bad, 200 wins or not.
