Steelers reportedly acquire WR Ryan Switzer from the Raiders

Ryan Switzer Dallas Cowboys

For the second time in five months, the Oakland Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers have made a trade involving a wide receiver. Also, for the second time in five months, Ryan Switzer has been traded.

Jordan Schultz of Yahoo! Sports was the first to report that Pittsburgh has acquired Switzer from Oakland.

The report was later backed up by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who noted that draft picks are changing hands in said deal.

Switzer, 23, was a fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys last year. He responded by putting up just six receptions for 41 yards while playing primarily on special teams. Then, in a pretty surprising move, Switzer was dealt to Oakland on draft day this past April.

Pretty much limited to the slot, Switzer provides a talented Steelers wide receiver group with even more depth. Though, he’s likely to play more on special teams and act as a return guy for the Steelers. He excelled in that area for the Cowboys last season.
