Seattle Sounders FC forward Raul Ruidiaz, midfielder João Paulo and defender Xavier Arreaga agreed to terms on their respective contract extensions.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed by the team on Friday. The Sounders, however, revealed the length of each contract.

Ruidiaz, a back-to-back MLS Best XI selection, will stay with the Sounders through the 2024 season. João Paulo is under contract through 2023 with a club option for the following year, while Arreaga is inked through 2023 with club options for 2024 and 2025.

“Raúl, João Paulo and Xavier have proven they are important pieces of the club’s success, and we’re pleased to have signed each of them to a contract extension,” Sounders general manager and president of soccer Garth Lagerwey said in a release. “With 28 players under contract, we feel that we’re in a great position ahead of upcoming Concacaf Champions League action and the MLS regular season.”

Ruidiaz, 31, collected 17 goals and one assist in 26 games (24 starts) last season. He has 50 goals and nine assists in 79 career games (74 starts) with the Sounders.

João Paulo, 30, recorded three goals and 11 assists in 31 games (28 starts) last season. He has five and 16, respectively, in 50 career games (45 starts) with Seattle.

Arreaga, 27, scored two goals in 26 games (25 starts) last season. He added two assists during his 54 career games (50 starts) with the Sounders.

“These are three players who have been very important to our team, on the field and in the locker room,” head coach Brian Schmetzer said in a release. “As a coach, I’m always pleased to have talented players available for selection, so I couldn’t be happier that these three will remain in Seattle for the foreseeable future.”
