The San Diego Padres placed left-hander Blake Snell on the 10-day injured list prior to Wednesday night’s game against the host Cincinnati Reds.

The move comes one day after Snell was scratched from a scheduled start due to an illness.

The Padres recalled right-hander Miguel Diaz from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.

Snell, 28, is 3-3 with a 5.29 ERA in 15 starts in a so-far disappointing first season in San Diego.

The Padres acquired the 2018 American League Cy Young Award winner in an offseason deal with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Snell’s career ERA is 3.46 over 123 starts since reaching the majors with Tampa Bay in 2016. He has a 45-33 record, including a 21-5 mark and 1.89 ERA in his Cy Young campaign.

The 26-year-old Diaz is 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA in 14 appearances (two starts) for the Padres this season.
