Sacramento Kings and George Karl in Serious Discussions Regarding Coaching Job

When the Sacramento Kings fired Mike Malone back in December, the decision caught a lot of people by surprise. Sacramento had gotten off to a decent start and were near the .500 mark.

Apparently that wasn’t good enough for the brass in California’s capital city. Tyrone Corbin was then called on to replace Malone, but things have not gone according to plan. The Kings are just 6-18 since he took over.

Now in the midst of a lost season, the Kings are reportedly engaging in serious conversations with veteran coach George Karl (via Sacramento Bee).

The report goes on to indicate that owner Vivek Ranadive and general manager Pete D’Alessandro are moving quicker than anticipated as it relates to finding a full-time head coach with Karl atop the list.

Karl last coached with the Denver Nuggets in 2012-2013. The team finished with 57 wins, which was Karl’s best record since winning 61 games as the Seattle Sonics head man back in 1997-1998. With a quarter century of head coaching experience and a career .599 winning percentage, getting Karl would be somewhat of a coup for the Kings.
