Now we know Rex Ryan is just pulling our chains about the Buffalo Bills quarterback situation.
The team announced on Saturday that Ryan named all four quarterbacks on the roster as captains for Saturday’s contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
#Bills captains today:
QB Matt Cassel
QB Tyrod Taylor
QB EJ Manuel
QB Matt Simms

E.J. Manuel is slated to start this game against Pittsburgh, but Ryan also said Matt Cassel and Tyrod Taylor would work with the starting unit. Matt Simms is just a camp body and won’t likely make the final roster.
Ryan has stated before that he has no plans to unveil his starting quarterback until Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. He noted the competitive advantage this strategy brings to his squad as it prepares for the Colts.
“Remember, I’m not going to make that decision until we play Indy,” Ryan said. “Competitive reasons, whatever. Go for it. We don’t need to tell them. Until the league makes us tell them, we can just go right up in there and say, ‘We’re not gonna say anything.’
“We may know. But why would we say any different? The quarterbacks that we’re talking about, they’re all three different. So plan for all three of them. And I think that’s smart on our part.”
Heck, why not plan for all four?
At this point, Ryan is clearly on the top of his troll game when it comes to the media’s constant questions regarding which quarterback will start.
