Breanna Stewart agreed to a one-year deal to remain with the Seattle Storm, according to reports from Yahoo Sports and ESPN on Monday.
The 27-year-old UConn product reportedly will receive a supermax deal worth $228,094. She was an unrestricted free agent and had met with the New York Liberty before agreeing to stay with Seattle.
Stewart, chosen by the Storm with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 draft, has played five seasons for the franchise. She led the Storm to WNBA championships in 2018 and 2020 and has earned three All-Star selections as a member of the club.
In 149 career games, all starts, Stewart has averaged 20 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. She was the WNBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2018, and she was selected the Finals MVP in both of her title seasons.
She also was part of the United States’ gold-medal winning women’s basketball teams at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics, and she won four consecutive national titles with UConn from 2013-16.
