The injury-plagued Green Bay Packers are now dealing with yet another serious injury. Starting running back Ty Montgomery exited Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bears with what was originally being reported to be a chest injury.
Now, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Montgomery has in fact suffered broken ribs and won’t return to the field.
#Packers RB Ty Montgomery suffered broken ribs, sources say, and won’t return. He did it early and played through it for several plays.

This is obviously a long-term injury, one that could have wide-ranging ramifications for a Packers team already thin on the offensive side of the ball (more on that here).
With Montgomery sidelined, rookie Jamaal Williams took over in the backfield. Unfortunately, he also exited the game in the second quarter to injury.
That’s just not good for anyone involved.
