Report: Omri Casspi closing in on deal with Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly close to bringing in veteran forward Omri Casspi after head coach Tom Thibodeau personally recruited him over dinner.

Casspi was released by the New Orleans Pelicans after injuring his thumb in his only game with the club after being shipped over in the DeMarcus Cousins trade last month.

In his eighth season, the Israeli born small forward averaged 6.1 points and four rebounds per game, appearing in just 23 games this year. Since joining the NBA, Casspi has never been more than a role player, though he does make his presence known when on the court and features a smooth stroke from behind the arc.
