Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended since before the start of the 2016 NFL season, and he’s reportedly hurting financially.

According to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, things are so bad right now that sources close to Gordon say he’s in a “desperate financial situation.”

After being denied reinstatement this spring, Gordon now has to wait until September to apply again. Cole notes that Gordon is looking for a new agent (after his old agent dumped him) that can hopefully help him financially in the meantime. Though after what’s transpired the past couple of years that might be a bit too optimistic.

The Browns have been very noncommittal about Gordon’s status with the franchise, should he be reinstated by the NFL. It’s hardly surprising, given his multiple suspensions.

That said, it’s clear the former All-Pro receiver would be able to help the offense if he were able to stay on the field. After all, back in 2013 he caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in just 14 games.
