Report: Jerry Jones agrees to reimburse NFL for more than $2 million

Jerry Jones

What was shaping up as a potentially ugly legal battle between NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has ended.

Citing an NFL spokesman, Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported that the matter “has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter later reported that Jones reimbursed the $2 million in legal fees, which is what the league was looking for.

The legal fees stemmed from two separate lawsuits. One was the suspension of running back Ezekiel Elliott, the other was Jones’ attempt to block Goodell’s contract extension. Elliott ended up serving his full suspension, while Goodell’s contract extension was not blocked.

With that noted, it’s fair to say that this whole process was a loss for Jones.
