Gobert, the 27th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, has quietly emerged as one of the league’s most dominant big men on the defensive side of the court.
A native of France, his extension solidifies the Utah Jazz’s young core of players, which includes Alec Burks and Gordon Hayward.
Gobert was expected to become on of the highest-paid impending free agents in a weak center class this upcoming offseason. By extending him now the Jazz have not only locked up a premier defender but also saved themselves money with what could prove to be a very team friendly deal.
