Report: Eagles offered Malcolm Jenkins, two picks for Brandin Cooks

The Philadelphia Eagles were said to be in on former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks prior to him being dealt to New England on Friday.

In the end, New Orleans received a first-round pick and a swap of later selections from the Patriots in exchange for the 1,000-yard receiver.

One day after the deal was made official, one report is now suggesting that Philadelphia offered up Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins as well as a third and fourth-round pick in this year’s draft for Cooks (via Pro Football Talk).

Considering what New Orleans ended up receiving for Cooks, it’s highly unlikely that the team gave much thought to the offer Philadelphia reportedly sent its way.

The Eagles ultimately added veterans Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith on team-friendly contracts while still being able to keep their draft picks and top defensive back. That’s not necessarily a negative end result for Philadelphia. Though, it would have been all sorts of sexy to see Cooks catch passes from youngster Carson Wentz.

As it is, we will have to settle for Tom Brady throwing passes to the dynamic young receiver. What will we ever do?
