Report: DeShone Kizer in play for the Packers

By Vincent Frank

When the Green Bay Packers traded out of the first round Thursday night, the expectation was that they had a player in mind to start things off in the second round on Friday.

Green Bay moved down with the Cleveland Browns from the 29th pick to the 33rd selection, picking up a fourth rounder this weekend in the process.

No one really thought that one of the players the Packers had in mind was former Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer.

Whether it’s a smokescreen to get as much as possible in a potential trade down or something completely different, this is still some rather interesting information.

Needless to say, Green Bay has one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Aaron Rodgers. Though, he is 33 years old and has some wear and tear on that body.

It would still be rather interesting if the Packers used their equivalent of a first-round pick on a quarterback with Rodgers continuing to play elite-level football. It’s our stand that GM Ted Thompson and Co. are looking for a bounty in a trade-down scenario. Throwing this out there can’t hurt the type of offers the team might receive.
