Report: D’Angelo Russell practicing with Nets’ G League team Monday

By Jesse Reed

The Brooklyn Nets might soon be getting point guard D’Angelo Russell back. He’s been out since mid-November with a knee injury that required surgery but is reportedly practicing with the team’s G League team on Monday, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

This is obviously great news for both Russell and the Nets. Before injuring his knee, the young point guard was having the best season of his career, averaging 20.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and one steal per game.

When Russell left the team in November, the Nets were one of the highest-scoring squads in the Association. They’ve cooled off a bit since then and have fallen down to No. 12 overall, which, combined with their abysmal defense has led to a 15-24 overall record.

If Russell can return to the form he had before his injury, then this will be one of the more entertaining teams to watch down the stretch.
