Report: Brewers acquire All-Star Jonathan Schoop from the Orioles

After failing to land a better known Baltimore Orioles infielder earlier in the month, the Milwaukee Brewers have struck a deal for a massive upgrade with the very same Orioles.

According to multiple media reports, Milwaukee has acquired All-Star second baseman Jonathan Schoop from Baltimore.

Only one game out in the National League Central heading into deadline day, Milwaukee picks up a still-young infielder who is under team control through the 2020 season.

Schoop, 26, is hitting .244 with 17 homers and 44 RBI on the season. Last year saw him post a .293 average with 32 homers and 105 RBI.

Milwaukee’s starting second baseman┬áJonathan Villar is currently on the disabled list and doesn’t boast anywhere near the pop that Schoop does. In this, Tuesday’s trade is a major upgrade for the up-and-coming squad.
