Report: Blazers acquire Rodney Hood from the Cavaliers

In an attempt to add another perimeter option with Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, the Portland Trail Blazers reportedly acquired guard Rodney Hood from the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday in a three-player swap.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Portland sent guards Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin as well as two second-round picks to Cleveland for the 26-year-old Hood.

Acquired in a three-team trade with the Utah Jazz ahead of last season’s deadline, Hood is averaging 12.2 points on 36 percent shooting from distance during the 2018-19 campaign.

The former first-round pick from Duke is a career 37 percent shooter from three-point range. He adds much-needed secondary scoring behind Portland’s elite back-court tandem.

For the Cavaliers, this trade was about picking up future draft pick assets. Hood was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
