Andy Dalton has been an integral piece for the Cincinnati Bengals since 2011. Now with the organization expected to draft Joe Burrow with the No. 1 pick, the Bengals are prepared to do right by Dalton with a trade this offseason.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Cincinnati will work with Dalton this offseason to facilitate a trade so he can find another opportunity. While the Bengals haven’t provided a timetable for when Dalton might be traded, the front office wants to find a resolution to make him happy.
The 32-year-old quarterback is coming off a poor season, but he’s also a three-time Pro Bowl selection and played under disastrous circumstances in 2019.
The Chicago Bears have already been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Dalton and the list of interested teams will likely grow when he is made available for trade.
Dalton deserves an opportunity to compete for a starting gig elsewhere and the Bengals would also benefit from moving him. Let’s hope both sides can find a spot that works for everyone this offseason.
