The Cincinnati Reds returned center fielder Nick Senzel from a rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list before Thursday’s game against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies.

Outfielder Will Benson was optioned to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding roster move.

Senzel, coming off a rehabilitation assignment with Louisville that began on April 4, started in center and batted sixth Thursday against Philadelphia.

Senzel underwent foot surgery over the offseason and began the 2023 campaign at Triple-A, where he batted .240 with one home run, two doubles and three RBIs over seven games.

In four major league seasons, all with the Reds, Senzel is a career .240 batter with 20 home runs, 43 doubles and 83 RBIs across 273 games.
