Saturday represented just the fifth time in his Hall of Fame-worthy career that Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale yielded eight earned runs in an outing.

It came against the division-rival New York Yankees a day after Boston dropped a hotly contested matchup by the score of 4-2.

Needless to say, frustrations are boiling over in Boston with the team mired in a slump that has seen it lose five consecutive games.

Sale is no different. He was ejected from Saturday’s game after arguing balls and strikes with the home plate umpire.

Manager Alex Cora was also ejected.

Sale yielded two homers against DJ LeMahieu in his outing. It’s the first time that he has given up eight runs in a start with the Red Sox.

Though, there seemed to be a legitimate gripe with the strike zone in this one.

In any event, the Red Sox seem to be imploding big time as they reach the stretch run.

Boston entered Saturday’s action with a 59-52 record and four games out of the final wild card spot in the AL.
