Raiders CB Nate Hobbs arrested on suspicion of DUI

Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines (21) pushes off of Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs (39) while rushing the ball Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, during a game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Las Vegas Raiders rookie cornerback Nate Hobbs was arrested early Monday on a DUI charge after he was found asleep in his car.

Raiders head coach Rich Bisaccia said Monday that Hobbs was “involved in an incident” but didn’t comment further. The team released a statement saying it is “in the process of gathering more information.”

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Hobbs was booked into the Clark County Detention Center after he was found asleep at the wheel of his car after 4 a.m. local time on an exit ramp of a hotel parking garage in Las Vegas. Hobbs was booked on misdemeanor DUI and has a court date set for May.

Hobbs, 22, has played in 15 games (nine starts) for the Raiders this season after being taken in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. He has 67 tackles – two for loss – with an interception and a forced fumble.

He started Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts and was credited with four tackles. It was a huge win for the Raiders (9-7), who remain in play for a wild card spot. The Raiders host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night and will make the playoffs with a win.

The arrest comes two months after Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs was involved in a fatal accident after allegedly driving drunk.
