PSG.LGD grab sweep in Group Stage 2 at DreamLeague Season 20

PSG.LGD and Talon Esports both cruised to 2-0 victories on Saturday as Group Stage 2 action of DreamLeague Season 20 continued.

PSG.LGD took down Gaimin Gladiators, while Talen Esports blanked Team Aster.

It was the second day of a seven-day single round robin round to determine which four teams will advance to the playoff round.

Sixteen Dota 2 teams from around the world were invited to DreamLeague Season 20 to compete for a $1 million prize pool. The winner will receive $300,000 and the runner-up will earn $175,000, with the top two finishers also qualifying for the Riyadh Masters later this year.

Group Stage 1 went from last Sunday through Wednesday, with a single round-robin format and all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advanced to Group Stage 2 and formed one single group of eight, with best-of-three matches. The top four finishers from Group Stage 2 will qualify for a double-elimination playoff stage June 24-25.

On Saturday, PSG.LGD won in 58 minutes on red before prevailing in 54 minutes on green. Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang of Malaysia led PSG with a 10.0-2.5-19.0 kills-deaths-assists ratio. Denmark’s Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard posted a 5.5-5.0-17.0 mark for the Gladiators.

Worawit “Q” Mekchai of Thailand had five kills, four deaths and 21 assists for Talon Esports, who picked up a 45-minute victory on green and a 52-minute win on red. Pakistan’s Sumail “Suma1L” Hassan paced the losing side with a 5.5-5.0-7.0 K-D-A.

In Saturday’s other matches, Team Spirit beat 9Pandas 2-1 and BetBoom Team toppled Evil Geniuses by the same score.

After 9Pandas pulled off a 36-minute victory on red, Team Spirit fought for a 66-minute win on green and completed the comeback with a 28-minute triumph on green.

BetBoom Team followed a similar path, first losing in 52 minutes on red. Wins in 41 minutes and 44 minutes, both on green, allowed BetBoom Team to win their second match in as many days.
