Pistons’ Derrick Rose fined $25,000 for throwing pen

Sometimes the headlines write themselves. Detroit Pistons guard Derrick Rose has reportedly been fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing a pen into the stands during Saturday’s game against his former Chicago Bulls squad.

You simply can’t make this stuff up.

Was the NBA concerned Rose might take an eye out in the stands? Did the fine notice come with a warning about running with scissors? This is absolutely absurd stuff right here.

A total of $25,000 for throwing a pen during a basketball game?

The other question here is where Rose got the pen from. It’s not like he was hiding it in his shorts or something. Maybe the former NBA MVP wanted to pull a Terrell Owens and sign something.

Whatever the reason, one of the game’s most-improved players is a bit lighter in the pocket book.
