Too much of the Philadelphia 76ers’ success rides on the status of Joel Embiid. That will never change as long as the reigning MVP is at his peak. While Tyrese Maxey’s growth has helped keep the 76ers’ postseason hopes alive, it’s become evident that more help is needed.

While there’s not much the Sixers can do to improve their roster this year. The offseason will present a whole new host of opportunities. One solution could even involve adding a six-time All-NBA talent.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the 76ers could even target Paul George, who has yet to sign an extension with the Los Angeles Clippers.

“League sources say that Philadelphia continues to loom as an eager George suitor should he make it onto the open market and give the 76ers their formal opportunity to try to lure him across the country. The Sixers are said to maintain interest in George despite the widely held presumption that he and [Kawhi] Leonard want to keep playing together in their native Southern California.”

Once the offseason tips off, George will have a big decision to make on his $48.7 million player option for the 2024-25 season. After making another All-Star appearance, the ninth of his career, expect George to have plenty of suitors. At that point, he’ll have to determine whether staying with the Clippers or joining another contender like the 76ers is best for his future.
