Pete Carroll on Eddie Lacy: ‘I want him big’

The Seattle Seahawks are not looking for new running back Eddie Lacy to be a scat back. They know that Lacy is big, and that’s just how Pete Carroll wants him.

Even still, Lacy has work to do. He visited the Seahawks a week before signing with them and reportedly weighed 267 pounds, which you can read about here.

Carroll doesn’t believe that Lacy getting to 235 pounds is a realistic option. But Seattle does want to see him somewhere in the 240’s.

To be in the 240’s, Lacy will have to lose between 18-27 pounds. So, while the Seahawks want him big, he has a lot of work to do before training camp starts.

Lacy has struggled to stay in shape and on the field the past couple of years.

He topped 1,000 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons but ran for only combined 1,118 yards over the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Lacy bottomed out in 2016, playing in only five games and rushing for 360 yards before ending up on IR with an ankle injury.
