Pelicans C DeMarcus Cousins out with a knee injury

For the second time since he joined the team in a trade from the Sacramento Kings last month, New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins will be out of action Friday night.

No, it’s not because he received yet another suspension due to crossing the technical foul threshold. This time, Cousins will be sitting due to an injury.

The team announced that he will be sidelined Friday night against the Houston Rockets due to left knee soreness and a contusion to one of his ribs.

The good news here is that Cousins is considered day-to-day and shouldn’t be out of action long. The bad news? New Orleans currently finds itself six games out of the final playoff spot with just 14 games remaining. Needless to say, every game is a must win from here on out.

Despite adding the All-Star to their roster, the Pelicans have posted a 4-7 record since the acquisition. Though, they did win the other game Cousins sat out.

The 26-year-old Cousins is averaging 20.7 points and 11.8 rebounds in 10 games with the Pelicans this season.
