Patrik Laine scored his second goal of the game 20 seconds into overtime and the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 Tuesday night.

Laine scored his 18th goal of the season from the slot on a pass from Jakub Voracek.

Jason Spezza tied the game for Toronto at 17:54 of the third period with goaltender Jack Campbell removed for an extra attacker.

Brendan Gaunce and Adam Boqvist also scored for the Blue Jackets, who have won eight of their past 10 games. Zach Werenski added two assists. Jean-Francois Berube made 39 saves.

Auston Matthews had a goal and two assists and Michael Bunting had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, who have lost three straight. Campbell made 26 saves.

Bunting scored his 17th goal of the season at 12:50 of the first period. Perched at the edge of the crease, he steered in a pass from a sprawling Mitchell Marner.

Laine scored at 6:13 of the second period, shooting from the left circle after faking a pass on a 2-on-1 with Boone Jenner. Werenski took the puck from Marner in the Columbus zone and made the outlet pass to start the rush.

Laine has a 10-game point streak (12 goals, eight assists).

Matthews scored his 34th goal on a backhand at 15:23 of the second, converting a nifty backhand pass from David Kampf.

Boqvist went end to end to score his 10th goal on a screened shot at 1:05 of the third period. Berube got the assist on the power-play goal with Morgan Rielly off for hooking.

Gaunce beat the Toronto defense to the puck and shot from the left circle through the five-hole for his third goal of the season at 7:13 of the third.

Spezza tied the game with his 10th goal. The puck went in off his skate, but it was ruled there was no kicking motion.

Defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin played his first game for Toronto after being acquired in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes.

Defenseman Jake Muzzin (concussion protocol) was not with the Maple Leafs.
