Panthers expect TE Greg Olsen back for Week 12

One of the best tight ends in the NFL is set to make his return to action. Greg Olsen, who’s been out since Week 2 with a broken foot, is expected back on the field for the first time since September when the Carolina Panthers play against the New York Jets in Week 12.

Head coach Ron Rivera passed along this happy news on Tuesday after Carolina’s 45-21 blowout win over the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.

Per Steve Reed of the Associated Press, Rivera said Olsen is “progressing well and the plan is still for him to return for the Jets game.” Reed noted, “That could change, but Rivera likes where he is at. Said it’s pretty exciting to get him back.”

Before this injury derailed Olsen’s 2017 season, he had totaled 1,000-plus yards of passes in each of his last three seasons. He also caught 16 touchdowns the past three years and had earned himself a raise prior to the start of the campaign.

Carolina has survived admirably without its top receiving weapon. Now that Olsen is set to return, the 6-3 Panthers are in prime position to make a run at the playoffs again after missing out last year.
