Oliver Wahlstrom scored in the ninth round of a shootout to lift the New York Islanders past the host Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 on Tuesday.

Wahlstrom was the only player on either team to score in the shootout.

Robin Salo, Josh Bailey and Casey Cizikas scored one goal each as the Islanders won on consecutive nights against the Flyers.

Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov stopped 31 shots.

Claude Giroux had one goal and one assist for the Flyers, who dropped their ninth in a row.

James van Riemsdyk and Travis Konecny also scored for Philadelphia.

Flyers goaltender Carter Hart made 28 saves.

The short-handed Flyers were missing key injured players such as Nate Thompson, Sean Couturier, Patrick Brown, Derick Brassard, Ryan Ellis and Kevin Hayes.

The Islanders quickly went ahead 1-0 at 2:08 of the first period when Salo found himself wide open and connected for his first career goal.

Joel Farabee appeared to tie the game at 11:12, but the Islanders challenged the goal and it was ruled offsides and thus nullified.

After Salo was whistled for holding, the Flyers responded and equalized at 14:39 when van Riemsdyk scored on the power play.

New York’s Mathew Barzal and Adam Pelech each had strong scoring chances midway through the second but couldn’t capitalize.

The Islanders’ aggressive play paid off as Bailey gave them a 2-1 lead at 13:28.

Konecny then tied the game at 2 just 26 seconds later for his second goal in two games.

The Flyers kept pushing and Oskar Lindblom just missed a go-ahead goal in the waning seconds.

Giroux — the Flyers’ lone representative in the upcoming All-Star Game — put the Flyers ahead 3-2 at 4:05 of the third. It was Giroux’s 12th goal of the season.

The game soon became chippy as Philadelphia’s Zack MacEwen and New York’s Zdeno Chara got tangled up in a fight, sending each of them off for five minutes.

The Islanders tied the game at 3 when Cizikas scored at 15:32. After going scoreless all season, Cizikas has notched two goals in two games.

Neither team was able to score in an up-tempo overtime, despite good opportunities from each.
