Prized free agent Odell Beckham Jr. to meet with AFC contender

Three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is among the top names remaining in NFL free agency.

The former New York Giants first-round pick did not suit up a season ago after suffering a torn ACL as a member of the Los Angeles Rams back in February of 2022. Despite this, he has drawn interest around the league.

That now includes OBJ set to meet with the Baltimore Ravens during the NFL owners meetings in Arizona this week. CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson was the first to break the news.

This is a rather interesting development in that Baltimore is mired in a standoff with former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. The star quarterback just recently made public that he requested a trade from the team after having the franchise tag placed on him earlier in March.

Apparently, Baltimore is confident that it can smooth things over with Jackson by potentially providing him with a much-needed target.

Last season saw current free agent Demarcus Robinson lead all Ravens receivers with a mere 458 yards. Devin Duvernay was second with 407 yards.

Even with young receiver and former first-round pick Rashod Bateman returning after missing 11 games last season, wide receiver is a major issue for the Ravens. Signing Nelson Agholor in free agency does very little to change that.

OBJ would come in and immediately become Jackson’s second-favorite target behind tight end Mark Andrews should the quarterback return to Baltimore.

Despite his solid track record, the 30-year-old receiver has fallen on hard times recently. After spending five often-drama filled seasons with the Giants, Beckham Jr. was traded to the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2019 season. He lasted less than three seasons in Cleveland due to a rift with the organization.

OBJ would ultimately land with the Los Angeles Rams during the 2021 season, playing extremely well en route to helping them to the Super Bowl title. In three NFC Playoff games that season, he caught 19 passes for 236 yards.

It will be interesting to see if anything comes of Odell Beckham Jr. meeting with the Baltimore Ravens. But this would certainly be a good fit.
