New York Mets ace pitcher Noah Syndergaard might just be taking this Thor business a bit too seriously these day, because he made a statement Wednesday that is just out of this world.

“Right now, New York is a Mets city,” he said in an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show.”

When pressed about why he’d say such a thing, Syndergaard mentioned the “incredible players” the Mets feature these days. In particular, he pointed to star outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, who really is one of the best MLB has to offer, and the tremendous starting five pitchers the team features.

That this club features star power is undeniable. That it has a shot to make noise in the postseason is also very true. However, we’ve highlighted the Mets as one of the hyped MLB teams destined to ultimately fail this year, which you can read about here.

Furthermore, New York has always been and will always be a Yankees town, no offense intended to Thor.
