NFL Commissioner on Colin Kaepernick: ‘The league has moved on’

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell held a press conference on Wednesday to discuss a number of different things.

One of the topics broached by reporters was Colin Kaepernick’s workout in Atlanta last month. It’s obviously been a point of contention in the weeks since after Kaepernick cancelled the NFL-mandated workout and set up shop at a nearby high school.

In talking about it, Goodell noted that it was a “credible opportunity” for Kaepernick and that the “league has moved on.”

There continues to be a major rift between the free-agent quarterback and the league.

Kaepernick has not suited up in a game since the 2016 campaign after starting the national anthem protests that summer.

He just recently settled a collusion lawsuit against the NFL and its 32 teams. That led to speculation that Kaepernick might get another chance.

While he looked good in the workout, the chances of Kaepernick returning to the league are not great. Goodell’s comments on Wednesday underscores this.
