As all 32 teams seek improvement heading into the 2024 NFL season, there have been several tough conversations. Most of these occur behind closed doors, as is the norm. But the New York Jets reportedly had a very public discussion that drew the attention of at least a few members associated closely with the NFL.

According to NFL Network’s Colleen Wolfe, there was a loud conversation between Jets head coach Robert Saleh and team owner Woody Johnson.

“At the owners meetings, there was a very heated conversation between Woody and Robert Saleh. To the point where it was a little awkward. Who knows, it could have been about anything.”

As Wolfe mentions, the interaction could have been about anything, from deciding where to eat dinner, to, you know, actual NFL conversations involving key aspects of play. Being that they were at the NFL owner’s meeting, it could have been about the recent rule changes, or perhaps about preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft, to even considering signing impact players in free agency. But again, that’s pure speculation.

It’s also important to note that Wolfe explained the exchange wasn’t necessarily an argument but more of a passionate conversation.

Yet, since it’s the NFL, any time there’s drama, people have to blow it out of proportion, which is a microcosm of this article. Still, as the NFL offseason rumor mill continues to spin, seeing that the Jets aren’t on the same page is a fascinating footnote during a slow time.
