New York Jets former first-round linebacker arrested for assaulting his own mom, and the mother of his child

In 2016, the New York Jets selected Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee with the 20th pick in the NFL Draft. He played three seasons with the team, starting 36 games. Lee was then traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for a sixth-round pick, where he started two games but won a Super Bowl in 2019. He then finished his career with the Buffalo Bills in 2020, appearing in two more games.

He hasn’t played an NFL down since November 29th, 2020.

But now, the 28-year-old Chattanooga, Tennessee native is back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

According to TMZ, Lee was arrested on Monday after allegedly assaulting both his mom and the mother of his own child. TMZ Sports has obtained court documents detailing the alleged events.

Apparently the cops were asked to arrive at a house in Dublin, Ohio after the mother of Lee’s two-year-old son alerted authorities of Lee physically attacking his mom at the residence. She allegedly heard Lee’s mom screaming and arrived to see Lee standing over her with a “raised fist.”

Lee’s mom reportedly only showed up to the residence after the mother of his son raised concerns about feeling unsafe around the 6-foot-1, 230-pound former pro football player. When Lee’s mom arrived, she asked him to leave, which she alleges caused him to grab her by the shirt and push her into a wall before throwing her to the ground, where he proceeded to punch her in the face and head repeatedly.

His mom was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where she was seen with swelling to her left cheek.

But this apparently isn’t the only time Lee got into an altercation with the mother of his child. There was another incident in Oct. of 2022. In that instance, Lee accused her of cheating on him, which led him to threaten to “kill her and their child.” He later “grabbed her by the neck, lifted her up, swung her around, and dropped her to the ground.”

In that case, Lee was charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence and two misdemeanor assault charges. It remains to be seen what comes of this latest attack, but for now, Lee is behind bars.
