Netflix to air $50 million docu-series about Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones

There are few teams who love the spotlight more than the Dallas Cowboys. As the owner of the franchise, Jerry Jones is at the forefront of the picture, acting as both the frontman and soundboard for ‘America’s Team.’

Jones is not like many other sports franchise owners in that aside from being the team president, he also operates as the general manager, having a heavy say in roster decisions along with his son Stephen.

Having owned the Cowboys since 1989, Jones has been a part of one of the most storied franchises in NFL history, including their three Super Bowl victories from 1992-95.

But that was a span that began over 30 years ago now, and the Cowboys haven’t been able to win the big game since. Instead, we’ve heard Jones and his team receive a lot of flak for always having sky-high expectations, but falling short, each year since ’95.

Now, Netflix wants a peek inside the happenings of the owner of the Cowboys and are closing in on a $50 million ten-episode docu-series about Jerry Jones. Production is being handled by NFL Films in conjunction with Skydance Sports.

The story focuses on the Cowboys’ heyday in the ’90s, and several other networks, such as ESPN and Amazon also got involved in what was described as a “bidding war” for the project. Ultimately, it was Netflix who wins out in the end, adding to their ‘Quarterback’ series that centers around Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota.
